Dave, a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, brings a wealth of knowledge and over 10 years' experience in the fitness industry. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and is a Strength & Conditioning Specialist.
After struggling with weight issues and poor eating habits during his childhood, Dave found solace in sports during high school. Through sport-specific training, he successfully transformed his fitness and nutrition habits, shedding excess weight, and embracing a healthier lifestyle. This personal journey ignited his passion for fitness and motivated him to pursue a career in the field as a personal trainer.
His own experiences with weight management have shaped Dave's belief in the transformative potential of sound nutrition and a diverse range of exercises that target both the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems. Dave also strongly believes that mental and emotional health are not only benefits but are built from a consistent, healthy diet, and exercise routine. He firmly believes that anyone can achieve their goals of living a healthier and happier lifestyle through these practices.
When Dave is not spending time at the gym, he's busy training Brazilian jiu-jitsu, golfing, or snowboarding with his buddies, or relaxing at home with friends and family.

Hi, I'm Matthew Pacelli, a personal trainer and proud co-owner of Stoney Creek Athletics. I've been in the fitness industry for seven years and have helped countless clients achieve their health and fitness goals.
My passion for fitness started at a young age, where I was heavily involved in sports and weightlifting – in fact, I still hold a Connecticut state record in powerlifting from 2018, an experience that reaffirmed my desire to pursue a career in the fitness industry. After getting my start as a trainer at a gym in Branford, I decided to open my own gym and did so successfully in 2020 at the age of 23.
At Stoney Creek Athletics, my mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for my clients to achieve their fitness goals. I offer personalized training programs and nutrition coaching tailored to each individual's needs, with options for group fitness classes for those who are interested. My prerogative is not only to help my clients become healthy but also to help them develop the knowledge and skills to maintain their health throughout their lives.
My approach to fitness is holistic, focusing not only on physical strength and endurance but also on mental and emotional well-being. I believe that a healthy lifestyle is achievable for everyone, and I am dedicated to helping my clients reach their full potential.
When I'm not in the gym, I enjoy training Brazilian jiu-jitsu and spending time with my family, especially my son. I'm also an avid reader and am constantly educating myself on fitness and nutrition, and techniques to better serve my clients.
